Kanda-gumi Co., Ltd. was founded in the current location in Kashi City, Hyogo Prefecture as a temple and shrine carpentry company. Temples and shrines have been cherished for many years not only as places of faith, ceremonies, and funerals but also as places for festivals and social interaction among people living in the region. Temples and shrines have unique structures, materials, designs, and functions. Therefore, temple carpenters acquire specialized knowledge and skills, including the ability to select materials such as wood and the mastery of techniques, as well as an understanding of religious rituals. While inheriting tradition as temple carpenters, we continue to construct buildings that meet the needs of the times. We will continue to maintain temples and shrines with tradition and utilize the specialized knowledge and skills acquired from temple construction in modern architecture such as residential and various facilities.
Company Motto:
“Change the ‘way’ we do things,

Our fundamental principle in craftsmanship is “Wood craftsmanship, People craftsmanship.”
Kanda-gumi is a historical temple and shrine construction company. We believe that our fundamental principle in craftsmanship is “Wood craftsmanship, People craftsmanship.” The technique of wooden joinery, where structures are assembled without the use of nails, is unique to Miyadaiku (temple carpenters). Equally important is the “People craftsmanship” that builds trust and strong relationships among individuals, just like the interlocking wooden joinery. We have not only acquired the necessary skills for temple and shrine construction but also specialized knowledge of religious rituals. Our mission is to inherit and preserve this tradition, culture, and skills, adapting them flexibly to the changing times. The techniques and skills of Miyadaiku carpentry are truly remarkable in Japan and also We are confident that it will be applicable on a global scale. We strive for global expansion and continuously work towards that goal.
